Fall Lettering on painted wood

It’s been awhile since I have blogged, but I plan to share more of my process here on the blog. I wanted to share a great lettering project I did as favors for my daughters’ birthday party. At Target, I picked up these oval wood signs already painted with a blue background and glitter edging.

I’ll share my process with you below.

I took a picture of the oval with my iPad Pro and did a rough draft of my lettering.

Then, I used my water soluble pencil to rough the lettering onto the oval. These pencils are so great, I use them for fabric sewing, but they are perfect for lettering a draft. They easily wipe off with a damp cloth if you need to rearrange your lettering.

And lastly, I lettered the phrase with my craft smart multi surface oil-based gold paint pen. I got mine at Michaels.

I hope you have enjoyed this post, it was a fun process!

I hope everyone is having a great holiday season. I have been busy working on a new illustration, gift items and busy with our new house build.  I hope to set up an Etsy shop {excited} in the near future.  In the process of one of my latest illustrations, I had to get a new scanner since my HP gave out.  I went with the Epson 4490, so far so good with the scanner. The max scan area is 8.5″ x 11.7″, I wish I could get an 11×14 🙂  I mostly scan my illustrations.  I wish there were more to choose from.  It seems that scanners are only 3 sizes, with the 3rd being well over $1000+, so I guess we’ll keep stitching together illustrations in PS.

I’ll be posting new work soon!
